Welcome to the “Christmas Auction”

This is traditionally one of the strongest sales of the Year, with an excellent room atmosphere. By this time, most of those intending to buy presents for others have done so, which means there’s a chance of getting a ‘wee treat’ for yourself. If you haven’t yet come along to one of our sales, why not make it this one? Edinburgh is a beautiful city with much to keep you occupied and amused. It looks very pretty at any time of year, but with the lights and decorations it’s particularly so at the moment. There are plenty of Hotels or B. and B. houses waiting to welcome you, there’s plenty for “other halves” to do and see (although the retail therapy that they may demand may place a strain on the wallet!).

Clearance Lots

The following 14 lots are from a genuine clearance. The vendor has accumulated masses of material over recent years; before getting the chance to ‘sort it out’ properly, he’s decided to move house. No longer having the luxury of an attic for storage, he’s decided to get rid of the bulk! The boxes are lotted ‘as they come’ and may well contain the odd missed gem!

The following lots are British Officials, some are definitely genuine, some are obviously fake, others (most of them in fact!) fall between these categories. Most appear fine, and even those which are undoubtedly fakes would fill a gap in any collection. As there are no certificates, all of the stamps in this section are sold ‘As-is’. Those marked “*” are from an original collection, where the gentleman was employed in a Dundee revenue office in the 1920s and ‘liberated’ the odd stamp or two from old items of mail which he happened upon! Therefore, these obviously have a greater probability of being genuine!
